Dear Super Bee Family,

As of Monday, March 1st, the Literacy Academy at Cleveland will be back to all hybrid students attending five days a week from 8:15 am-3:15 pm! Each and every teacher is beyond excited to welcome all of their students back to their classrooms.  Our Super Bee support staff is looking forward to it as well.  Our custodians have been busy adding tables, chairs, and other needed items back to the classrooms.

As a refresher, most things will remain the same.
1.  Students will still enter/exit the building by their grade level doors.  Please remind your student to remain distant from others while waiting outside to come in.
2. Students will be expected to wear their masks, except while eating or while taking brief mask breaks in their own area.
2.  Students will be expected to sanitize their hands upon entering the building and their classrooms.
3.  Students will stay with their own classmates at recess and at lunch.
4. Students will still enjoy Specials (Art, Music, and Technology) in their classrooms to reduce time in common areas.  PE will be held in the gym (spaced apart and with masks) or outside as they are able.
5.  Students who ride the bus will be expected to sanitize their hands upon boarding/exiting the bus and to only sit where designated.
6.  Students will still be using their Chromebooks; however, it may look a little bit different how they are used. We will have more information about this coming soon.
7. Students will receive breakfast and lunch 5 days a week.  If you bring your meals from home, please do NOT bring any nut items.  We have students who are extremely allergic to all forms of nuts, i.e. nut spreads, oils, milks.

The biggest item that will not change is our dedication to you and your student's academic, behavioral, and social/emotional success.  Each of our Super Bee Staff is dedicated to this mission.

Yours in Education,

Mrs. Cansfield
Acting Principal

Dear Super Bee Family,

I hope this letter finds all of you well and warm!  It's been a very cold week with little outdoor recess as the temperature has plummeted to a "real feel" of single digits.  Brrrrrr!  It's been a great week to snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book when home.

I am very proud of all of our students who have returned from Winter Break.  Whether in our 100% Virtual Program or our Hybrid Program, all students seem to be making progress. As well, all students have completed their mid-year NWEA Math and Reading assessments online.  Staff and I will be reviewing it at upcoming staff meetings and grade level meetings.

On Monday, February 1st, our current staff and students in the Hybrid Program will be welcoming back numerous students at each grade level to the building. We are excited to announce the opening of a third 2nd Grade Classroom.  With so many 100% Virtual Students returning to the building, this additional classroom was needed in order to keep our 2nd Grade classrooms balanced and at appropriate instructional numbers. Kindergarten and 1st Grade classrooms will be adding a few students each, but there was not a need to add or subtract any classrooms.

Our Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is back to four full days a week, excluding Fridays.  Mrs Lewandowski and Miss Fair are enjoying having their students back in the building and the students appear to be enjoying it also.  Lots of "smiling eyes" can be seen as they make their way down the hall.

Lastly, it is the expectation that all students (TK-K-1st-2nd) are completing their Schoology assignments on their remote days.  It is best to complete these assignments on remote days because they build on the instruction given on their face-to-face days.  If for some reason your student is unable to complete it on their remote day, please make sure it is done by Sunday at midnight. If not, your student will be marked absent for their remote day.

Dear Super Bee Family,

With Parent and Teacher Conferences coming to an end this week, I hope you have a better understanding of how your student is growing academically. If for some reason you were unable to attend your conference, please call the school and we will connect you with your teacher.  We value your input into your student's educational success and want to partner with you in this process.

As a reminder, Monday, November 30th marked the start of our 2nd Trimester and it will end on March 12, 2021.  With a new trimester, each student has an opportunity to refocus their efforts on their strengths and weaknesses in all academic areas. Now is an excellent time for you and your student to talk about what is going well and what is not going so well.  Chat with them about where they should do their school work, when they should be attending their Zoom meetings, when they should be going to bed, and what time they should be getting up.  All of these questions are important for you and your child to answer together, so that the entire family is working toward the student's success in school.  If your child needs additional help with logging into their Zoom meetings, or a quiet place to complete their assignments, remember our Learning Lab is open every day from 9 am-3pm.  Contact the school at (810)984-6500 to sign them up for a 2 hour time slot.  Our paraprofessionals are here to help.  Many of their teachers stop by to help daily, too.

Lastly, it is the expectation that all students (K-1st-2nd) at this time are attending Zoom instructional sessions daily (whether live or recorded) and completing daily assignments and uploading them to their teacher's Schoology site.  Students have until Sunday at midnight of each week to turn in their missing assignments. If they do not log into Schoology and do not complete their assignments by Sunday at midnight, they will be marked as an unexcused absence.   Every student was taught prior to school going fully remote how to log into their Schoology sites.  However, we know they sometimes forget.  If your students needs help, please email or call your student's teacher.  As well, if your student is unable to attend online sessions or to complete assignments due to illness or to other extenuating circumstances, please contact the school.

Dear Super Bee Community,

The year 2020 has thrown us another curve ball, but our Super Bee students are up for the challenge.  Starting Monday, November 16th, all Group A and Group B Hybrid students will begin fully remote learning.  Super Bees are expected to log in daily to their Schoology site to attend their Zoom instructional sessions with their teacher and to complete their daily assignments.  As well, our Super Bees are expected to continue bee-ing Respectful, Responsible, and Ready in the online environment. Teachers will be working with Super Bees this week to set what those expectations look like in remote learning.

Remember:  All students not attending Zoom instructional sessions and not completing daily assignments will be marked an unexcused absence.  Students will have until Sunday at midnight of each week to turn in their missing assignments.  If your students needs help, please email or call your student's teacher.  As well, if your student is unable to attend online sessions or to complete assignments due to illness or to other extenuating circumstances, please contact the school.
