Safety Patrol

History

In the 1920's, AAA clubs helped organize a program where older students would assist younger ones with crossing streets on their way to and from school. The safety patrol concept spread quickly to communities and schools nationwide. Today more than 500,000 children participate at 50,000 schools throughout the country.

Howard D Crull Safety Patrol

The Howard D Crull Safety Patrol is comprised of fifth grade students. These students patrol the area enclosed by Garfield, Riverside Dr. , Hancock and 22nd Ave. Because of the large area that is being patrolled, the supervisors and officers use walkie-talkies for immediate communication. The walkie-talkies were purchased with grant money and the Crull PTA.
