Open House is just around the corner!
Teacher Placement Letters
Keep an eye out for the teacher placement letters this week. They should arrive soon as you prepare to attend Open House.
First Day of School: Tuesday, September 3rd, is a HALF DAY (8:25 am - 11:48 am) for students.
Check Out These Spectacular Open House Events!
Open House: Wednesday, August 28th, 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
You can bring in school supplies and drop them off in the classroom to help lighten the load for students on the first day. Please place the name of your child on the bag(s).
What the Fry & Blue Water Snowie: Wednesday, August 28th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Two vendors will be onsite in the back parking lot. Food will be available to purchase during and after the open house. Picnic tables are spread out around the playground and under our outdoor learning area for your convenience. Feel free to spend time on the playground conversing with each other, making new friends, eating, and watching the kids playing.

Calendar
We have created an easy to read and view calendar for your use. A color copy of this will be coming home the first week of school.
Personnel Update
Mrs. Trombly, 2nd grade teacher, retired at the end of the year.
Mrs. Kerrins will be our new 2nd grade teacher. She has 24 years of experience as an educator and spent many of her years teaching in Croswell-Lexington before coming to our district last year.
Mrs. Lyons, 5th grade teacher, has accepted an instructional coach position in our district.
Ms. Boots-Doughty has moved from 3rd grade to 5th grade this year.
Mrs. Hayes has moved from 1st grade to 3rd grade this year.
Mrs. Sears will be our new 1st grade teacher this year. She has over 20 years experience as an educator and spent many of her years teaching in Utica Community Schools before coming to our district recently.
Mrs. Ojczyk is joining our team as a full time resource room teacher. She joined the district last year and taught part time in our building then traveled to another building to support students there. This year she will be teaching solely at our building. Mrs. Cavis will also continue to be a full time resource room teacher at Keewahdin as well.

Annual Title I Parent Meeting
Our Title I Parent Meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 10th @ 5:30 - 6:00 pm in our Learning Commons/Library.
Box Tops for Education
Please consider downloading the Box Tops app to your phone and selecting Keewahdin Elementary as the school to earn cash for PTA. Scan your paper receipts or submit your electronic receipts at the touch of a button to earn a few cents here and there. The few cents add up!
Now is the time to download the app as sales have begun to occur for back to school items.
Teacher Placement Letters
Welcome letters with the name of teacher assignments will be mailed out the week of August 19th. The letter will also include the supply list for that teacher and a welcome letter from the specific teacher.
Building Update
Due to our growth over the past few years and the increase in services for our students we have run out of space in our building. We are installing a temporary modular unit in the back to house some of our service providers. This will free up space inside the building for a needed classroom.
Lego Team Coach Needed
We are in need of a coach or coaches for our Lego Team. The Lego team consists of up to 10 students in grades 4 & 5. The team meets after school on days of your choice in order to prepare for the Lego challenge and competition. The competition takes place on a Saturday. If you are interested in being a coach for the Keewahdin Lego Team, please contact me at clesser@phasd.us
Free Breakfast & Lunch
All Keewahdin students are eligible for a free breakfast and lunch if they wish to have one.
All students are welcome to bring their own lunch.
