Celebrations

  • Thank you for attending Open House!


Woo Hoo Breakfast (8:15 - 9:00 am in the Learning Commons/Library)

  • We cordially invite you to a special breakfast on the first day of school directly after dropping off your child to their room. The first day of school is a very special day for students and especially parents. Please consider spending some time with us having coffee, donuts, and conversation. We know this is a very exciting and emotional time as your child enters the beginning of the school year at Keewahdin. We also know parents need some time to process these feelings and share their emotions with others that are going through a similar emotional rollercoaster. 

  • In the past we have focused this invitation on kindergarten parents and that is still the case however, suggestions have been made that all parents celebrate the first day of school and this is why we are extending the Woo Hoo Breakfast invitation to all parents.

  • This event is sponsored by our PTA


First Day of School: Tuesday, September 3rd, is a HALF DAY (8:25 am - 11:48 am) for students.


Safe and Secure Campus/Visitors

  • Parents may walk their child(ren) to class on the first day of school. Everyday afterward, we will have a Hug & Go Zone at the front and cafeteria doors where parents and loved ones will wish their child well and hug them before they enter the school. Keewahdin team members will be present by the doors and inside the halls to make sure students get to their classes.

  • We appreciate your understanding of the need to have this security measure in place.

  • If you need to enter the building you will be required to state your name and business at the main entrance in order to be buzzed into the building. Please have your ID ready for verification.

  • Students will be dismissed from the rear of the building at the end of the day. Grades K-2 will be dismissed from the pavement behind the gym while grades 3-5 will dismiss students from the outdoor learning structure at the rear of the building. Parents are required to approach the teacher, have your ID ready for verification, then state the name of your child. Students must be dismissed by the teacher for safety reasons.

  • If there is inclement weather, students will be dismissed from the cafeteria.

  • Bus students will depart out the front doors to the buses.


Student Drop Off & Pick Up 

  • Please refer to the diagram below for drop off and pick up.

  • The most important thing to remember for drop off is to pull all the way forward when dropping off your child. We can fit about 10 cars around the drop off area and keep the line flowing in order to prevent a back up onto Lakeshore Road. Have your child ready to exit the vehicle with their belongings. You may drop off your child between 8:00 and 8:15 am.

  • Feel free to park in the lot and walk your child to the door instead of dropping off in the loop.


Lego Team Coach Needed

  • We are in need of a coach or coaches for our Lego Team. The Lego team consists of up to 10 students in grades 4 & 5. The team meets after school on days of your choice in order to prepare for the Lego challenge and competition. The competition takes place on a Saturday. If you are interested in being a coach for the Keewahdin Lego Team, please contact me at clesser@phasd.us


Keewahdin Grade Level T-Shirts

  • Our Keewahdin grade level shirt store is officially open for business!!! These fliers will be coming home this week, but here is the information for anyone interested. Please consider shopping to support fundraising for Keewahdin and being able to sport grade level shirts for field trips, grade level activities, field day, and of course…..THE HUSKY HUSTLE!!!! Store closes September 15th. Happy Shopping!!

Husky Hustle

  • Each year we have a big FUNdraiser called the Husky Hustle where students run laps around the soccer field to raise money for the school. The funds raised support all the events PTA sponsors throughout the year. Students earn lots of wonderful prizes for raising money. Mark the date on your calendar and come out to cheer on your child(ren).

  • We have created an easy to read and view calendar for your use. A color copy of this will be coming home the first week of school.

Annual Title I Parent Meeting

  • Our Title I Parent Meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 10th @ 6:00 pm in our Learning Commons/Library. 


Box Tops for Education

  • Please consider downloading the Box Tops app to your phone and selecting Keewahdin Elementary as the school to earn cash for PTA. Scan your paper receipts or submit your electronic receipts at the touch of a button to earn a few cents here and there. The few cents add up!

  • Now is the time to download the app as sales have begun to occur for back to school items.


Free Breakfast & Lunch 

  • All Keewahdin students are eligible for a free breakfast and lunch if they wish to have one.

  • All students are welcome to bring their own lunch.

  • Fancy Friday - Students may choose to dress up in nice clothes if they wish. A student, Caden Gielow, started this tradition about 6 years ago and it has continued.
