Parent Survey: Every year Port Huron schools asks our parents and guardians to complete a survey regarding their experience with our schools.  Please consider taking this brief survey to help guide our school improvement efforts.

Tribal Affiliation:  In Michigan, every school district has to collect certain student information, such as enrollment, demographics, and program participation, to share with the Michigan Department of Education.  The State School Aid Act added a requirement for districts to gather data on students' tribal affiliations. This data collection was set up with input from the Tribal Nations in Michigan.

Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, all schools will provide an opportunity for tribal affiliation to be shared. It's important to note that providing tribal affiliation information to the school district is optional. The data collected will help improve communication with Tribal Nations and may also help districts determine if they are eligible to apply for extra funding to support Indigenous students.

For those who choose to share their tribal affiliation, their information is protected by privacy laws like FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and others that prevent discrimination. If you wish to provide affiliation data for your child, please complete this Google Form.

Firearm Safety:  Districts are required to send information home to parents and caregivers on the safe storage of firearms. This is in accordance with the “Safe Storage Laws,” MCL 28.429, MCL 380.1313a, and MCL 380.1313b. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services provided this information to the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for distribution.

Specific resources required to be sent home to parents and caregivers include:

Additional resources and information can be found on MDE’s Safe Storage Law webpage. Questions may be directed to MDE’s Office of Health and Safety at MDE-OHS@Michigan.gov.

Cell Phone Reminder: A reminder that cell phones/headphones are not to be visible in any instructional space or media center while classes are in session.  The first violation will result in the phone being returned to the student at the end of the day.  Repeat offense will result in a parent picking up from school.
