Announcements for 5/22/2023

Last week Varsity tennis competed in Regionals at Eisenhower high school, placing second out of ten teams and qualifying for Division 1 state finals at Hope College and Holland Christian High School June second and third.   2 Doubles Kate VanHowe and Grace Goldman and 3 Doubles Sophie Harris and Ella Beck were regional finalists.  2 Singles Addison Lyons and 3 Singles Amara Makim were regional champions.   

On May 24th, students from the AP Capstone classes of Seminar and Research will be presenting their work in a walking gallery showcase in the main gym. The showcase will be held from 11:30 to 2, and it is completely free to anyone who would like to attend. Come and support these amazing students and their work. 

The Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Track Team competed in the Regional meet this past Weekend.  The Girls’ team finished runner-up. Margaret Monaghan was the regional champion in the 110 Meter Hurdles, 300 Meter Hurdles, High Jump and Long Jump. Maya Freeman finished runner-up in the Shot Put. Jayde Ullenbruch finished runner-up in the Long Jump. Reese Georgia finished fourth in the 3200m Run. All four girls will compete in two weeks at State Finals.  Also scoring for the girls were Dylan Pasia in the 800 and 1600 Meter run, Carly Moats in the Shot Put and Discus, Jessica Pospishel in the Shot Put, Isabella Nestle in the 400 Meter Dash, Jayde Ullenbruch in the High Jump and the 400 Meter Relay team of Kayla Faust, Ava Gonser, Tiyana Brown and Jayde Ullenbruch. On the Boys’ side, Glen Davis finished runner-up in the 3200 Meter Run. The 3200 Meter Relay team of Luke VanderHeuvel, Grant Gonser, Matt LaFreniere and Glen Davis finished in fourth. Each also move on to State Finals. Other scorers for the boys were Alex Jamison in the 200 Meter Dash, Matt LaFreniere in the 3200 Meter Run, Aiden Douglas in the 300 Meter Hurdles, Tyler Jamison and Isaiah Lopez in the High Jump and the 400 Meter Relay team of Alex Jamison, Vasili Kasparian, Hayden Prone and Isaiah Lopez. Both teams will return to the track this Friday to compete in the Blue Water Area Meet of Champions.
