New Administrator Spotlight:
Ryan Murphy is the new Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Central Middle School. Mr. Murphy comes to us from Capac Community Schools where he was the Principal of their Jr/Sr High School. He was previously a Physical Education and Health teacher at Central for four years too. Mr. Murphy is a committed advocate for his students, and we are confident that he will make a great addition to the Central Middle School Team! "I am energized about the opportunity to be back at Central Middle School to support our students to be successful in the classroom and on the field. Iām excited to create positive relationships with staff and students. I look forward to seeing many of you in the halls and at our athletic contests."

New Administrator Spotlight:
Cerees Hazely is the new principal at Roosevelt Elementary! Most recently, she served as the Dean of Students at Central Middle School. Previously in our district, she has been a Behavior Intervention Coach and teacher at the STEAM Academy at Woodrow Wilson from 2015 to 2020. "I am energized for the opportunity to lead the amazing staff at Roosevelt to higher heights as we educate, support, and care for each one of our students and their families. I am ready to see the amazing impact we make on these kids this year! It will be a year of success!"

Schools Welcome Back Students in Open Houses!
Port Huron Schools students were welcomed back to their schools in our annual Open House events this week. Special thanks to Tires and Treads who coordinated their annual car show this year at Michigamme Elementary.

This summer, students were hard at work in our district credit recovery program. At the high school level, 10 students earned diplomas and 116 students are on track with their graduation cohort as a result of the credit recovery program. #1PHASDproud of these hardworking students!
PHHS Principal Mike Palmer added this: āI am very proud of the effort made by all of our students during summer school. We were fortunate to have several students who finished up their requirements to graduate from high school. These students faced many challenges over the past few years yet were able to persevere and finish. Congratulations to our graduates!ā


What a memorable #1PHASD morning it was at McMorran Theater welcoming back our entire staff and being entertained/inspired/motivated by comedian and elementary principal Gerry Brooks from Kentucky! Itās going to be a great year at Port Huron Schools!

Athletics Season is Underway!
Our student athletes and coaches have been training since August 8 (and earlier with summer camps, etc.) We wish them the best and canāt wait to cheer them on in competition.
PHHS Athletic Director Randi Kaufmann shared this: āThe first weeks of fall sports are so inspiring to watch athletes back playing the sport they love, showing their motivation, dedication and sportsmanship. Not only are they working on their skills and improving everyday, they are a part of something bigger by learning life lessons and being involved in the community giving back.ā
